     Route: Cusco – Checacupe – Palccoyo – Colonial Bridge – Cusco

    Discover the Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain, a peaceful and colorful alternative to the famous Vinicunca.
     Perfect for travelers looking for an easier and less crowded hike, this route offers breathtaking landscapes, three rainbow-colored mountains, and panoramic views of the Andes.

    Unlike Vinicunca, the Palccoyo hike is mostly flat and takes around one hour, making it accessible for all ages while still providing incredible photo opportunities and authentic contact with Andean nature.

    What You’ll See

    • Palccoyo Rainbow Range: A chain of three colorful mountains with vibrant mineral layers.
    • Andean Wildlife: Llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas raised by local communities; occasional sightings of Andean foxes and viscachas.

    Apu Ausangate View: From the top viewpoint, enjoy the majestic sight of Cusco’s sacred mountain.

    TRIP ITINERARY

    Day 1

    Itinerary

    Pick-up from your hotel between 3:30 a.m. and 4:00 a.m., followed by a 2-hour drive to Cusipata, where we’ll stop for a delicious breakfast and short rest.
     Then, we’ll continue for 1.5 hours to reach the Palccoyo community (4,200 m.a.s.l.), where our scenic hike begins.

    The hike takes about 1 hour and is mostly flat, surrounded by stunning views of the colorful mountains and Andean fauna.
     Once at the top, we’ll admire the Apu Ausangate and have about one hour of free time for photos and exploration.

    After descending, we’ll return by bus to Cusipata for a buffet lunch before heading back to Cusco, arriving around 5:30 p.m., near the Main Square.
