This program is designed for travelers who want to make the most of their time in Cusco by visiting two of Peru’s most stunning destinations: Rainbow Mountain and Machu Picchu. In just two days, you’ll hike to 5,000 meters above sea level and the following day explore one of the world’s wonders with a professional guide. A perfectly organized experience full of unique scenery and unforgettable moments.
Early in the morning (between 3:40 and 4:30 a.m.), we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and drive to the community of Cusipata. There, you’ll enjoy a local breakfast before continuing to the trailhead.
You’ll begin the ascent to Rainbow Mountain, located over 5,000 meters above sea level. The hike lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours via Cusipata, or around 45 minutes via Pitumarca, depending on the chosen route and the group’s pace. Along the way, you’ll see herds of llamas and alpacas and enjoy panoramic views of the Ausangate glacier.
At the summit, you’ll have time to rest, take photos, and appreciate the natural colors caused by the mountain’s mineral composition. After the visit, you’ll descend to the starting point and return to Cusipata for a buffet lunch.
In the afternoon, we’ll continue by private transport to Ollantaytambo, where you’ll board the train to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, a representative will meet you and take you to your hotel to rest.
After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll take the bus up to Machu Picchu (approximately 30 minutes) or hike up if you prefer (around two hours).
At the citadel, you’ll enjoy a guided tour of about two hours through the most important archaeological sectors, learning about its history and spiritual significance. Afterward, you’ll have free time to continue exploring on your own.
If you’ve reserved Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, your guide will give you the necessary instructions. Later, you’ll take the bus down to Aguas Calientes for lunch (if your train schedule allows), then board the train back to Ollantaytambo. From there, our transport will take you to your hotel in Cusco.
